Amazing!! Life-like Food Paintings that make You Want To Drool

Feast your eyes on these amazing paintings by hyper-realist artist Tom Martin from Rotherham,  England. They look so good that at first glance you could bet they are photographed pictures of delicious food.

As you can probably imagine, creating this kind of realistic depictions take a great deal of time and patience. Tom Martin spends around two months painstakingly working on a single one of his pieces in his quest to depict what is real to the best of his abilities. Not surprising, each piece sells for as high as £17000 ($25000) or a whooping N3, 938, 000....

Most of his works focus on food, but you might notice there aren’t any greasy burgers and pizzas displayed in his paintings. “I focus on food and its content because it plays a very big part in my life at the moment,” the artist explains.
“I am a keen fitness enthusiast and along with that comes a healthy diet and the science of learning how your body uses carbohydrates and proteins.”
You will however find bowls of delicious-looking fruit cereal, toast and marmalade, and even small guilty pleasures like waffles and ice-cream.

10 Major Culprits Behind Hair Breakage and Tips to Prevent Hair Breakage

In this post, we will be taking a look at ten silent killers that wreak havoc on our hair day in and day out. Many of them are seemingly innocuous, and we don’t think about the damage we are causing until we see hair in the sink and our overall length shortening. Others, are more obvious. As you read, I hope you learn something

10.) Pulling hair too tight.

Whether you’re putting your hair in a ponytail, getting braids, or even wearing protective styling, you are pulling on your hair. Some of us tend to pull harder than others — especially when it comes to those gosh darn edges. Nothing is more annoying than a lumpy messy ponytail when you are going for a sleek look, but think about the undue stress you are causing your hair; especially your edges. Yeah, remember when folks used to say “She don’t got no edges”? They have a name for it now. Traction alopecia, and it’s very real. Don’t be fooled into thinking it’s just a Black women’s hair issue — any woman that styles their hair off of their face (or gets braids/weaves) is at risk. Avoid tugging ponytails and other hair inside of clips/fasteners outward (to tighten it). Remember to always keep your edges moisturized. To compensate for that pull-back, try using a product that will make your edges cooperate without having to secure them so tightly. Lastly, don’t ever go to bed with your hair still in a ponytail or clipped back.

9.) The wrong kind of scrunchies and clips.

The only thing worse than a too-tight ponytail or a slicked-back to hell look is one done with the wrong kind of equipment. Hopefully, you know by now that rubber bands are not a good look. Wanna know why? Place a rubber band on your forearm (near your elbow) and push it down to your wrist. You feel those arm hairs catching? Just imagine that on your head. Please also know that all scrunchies are not created equal. Metal fasteners get easily caught on hair and will yank it out just as much as a rubber band (and quite painfully so). Don’t believe me? Go into the bottom of your hair drawer and see how much hair is balled up on your old metal-fastened scrunchies

8.) Big Perm.

You can smell perm being mixed up from 30 miles away. But that’s not the only reason it does serious damage to your hair. When you apply a perm to your hair, you are allowing carcinogenic chemicals to penetrate your hair shaft and literally break the bonds that create your hair’s curly texture…permanently. Any chemical, with lye or not, would have to be pretty darn strong to bend genetics. This is what makes perms especially damaging to our hair: hair that is naturally curly is inherently weaker (because each bend in your strand of hair is a potential breaking point), and we protect these breaking points by making the natural hair as resilient as possible and essentially shielding the weak points. When you perm, you basically expose the weak points and make them weaker. Not to mention, if you leave it on for too long you will have no hair.

7.) Doing too much with dye.

I know, I know, you’re trying to keep up with Beyonce’s blonde, Rihanna’s red, and Nicki Minaj’s wig switch routine. Do you know what price your hair is paying for your coloring whims? if you are going for a light hair color, see a professional. However, if you are looking for a little tint and some great shine, cellophane and henna are two great options.

6.) Being heat-happy.

I’m not saying to give up heat completely — just be very careful and monitor your intake. When going from natural to straightened, be sure to use a heat protecting spray or serum along the way. I am a fan of Tresemme Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray and Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Anti-Friz Serum. Also, avoid unnecessary heat whenever possible. If you can avoid blow drying and air dry your hair instead, do so. Instead of automatically cranking your flat iron up to 450 degrees, start off at a lower setting so that you can achieve the same results without overdoing it.

5.) Underconditioning.

Conditioners are really your hair’s first line of defense in terms of moisture and strength. Whether you are going natural or applying heat after a shampoo, conditioner should always be your second step. Also try to deep condition monthly, to give your hair a little extra love…Try Palmers Coconut Oil Deep Conditioning Protein Pack.

4.) All cotton everything.

Do not let anything cotton or cotton-esque come anywhere near your hair. Whether you’re trying your edges down, or covering your hair at night, cotton is not the way to go. Cotton is incredibly absorbent, and if you tie your hair up in a cotton bandana or lay down at night on a cotton pillowcase (without your hair tired up), the oils and moisture will be sucked right out of your hair — leaving it dry, brittle, and prone to breakage. Invest in a satin scarf. If you’re feeling real fancy, skip the hair covers and grab a satin pillowcase.

3.) Blame it on the a-a-a-a-a-alcohol.

At least the bad ones. Alcohols found in hair products are definitely bipolar — ranging from good for you fatty alcohols like cetyl to not-so-hot alcohols like SD or ethyl. For the purposes of this entry, we’re discussing those not-so-hot alcohols that can often be the culprits behind drying and brittle hair. These alcohols are commonly found in styling products used to provide hold — like gels and hairsprays.

2.) Naughty naughty petroleum and mineral oil.

I know, these are key staples in your favorite moisturizing products aimed at providing hair moisture, growth, and repair. Don’t believe the hype. Petroleum aka vaseline not only clogs your pores and slows growth, it also acts as a sealant. Sealant’s aren’t bad in and of themselves — they keep moisture inside the hair shaft and also block moisture from getting inside as well. If your hair is already dry, and you look to a petroleum-laced product to give you moisture, guess what? You’re in for a rude awakening. The petroleum effectively blocked any chances your hair had to soak up some moisture from other sources. Mineral oil aka baby oil may actually be the worse of the two.

And the number one most egregious offense we commit that wreaks havoc on our hair is…. :::drumroll, please:::

1.) HOLDING ON TO FRAZZLED ENDS.

More often than not, women are afraid to have a pair of scissors come anywhere near their hair in an attempt to preserve length. Unfortunately, that logic works against your hair being all that it can be. Split ends don’t just stay at the ends of your hair. They continue to mosey up your shaft until it splits in two or breaks — rendering your hair twice as weak. Not to mention, split-end damage hair is dull, lifeless, and doesn’t hold curl or style well. Conventional wisdom dictates that you cannot undo a split end. (In a future blog, we will explore to what extent this is true. But for now, we shall regard it as such). All we can do with damaged ends is cut gradually, and invest more in protecting ends. Once your ends get on track, you will notice your hair is thicker, fuller, has more body, and holds curls and styles well. Traditional recommendations say to trim your ends every 6-8 weeks, but I am a fan of a more personalized approach. Assess your ends. How damaged are they? Come up with a trimming schedule that gets them healthy on your time, and at a length you are comfortable with.

Wishing you a happy, healthy head of hair!!!

9 WAYS TO MAKE YOUR GUY LISTEN TO ANYTHING YOU SAY ...

Believe it or not, guys aren't deaf and there are many ways to make your guy listen. No one likes being ignored, especially when trying to say something important. While everyone I know has their own methods, you can get amazing results through a few tried and true ways to make your guy listen.

1. PAY ATTENTION TO HIM

After talking to a some guy friends, I was surprised to find out one of the reasons they tune out is because they're ignored. It's easy to get caught up talking about your day and forget to ask about his. One of the easiest ways to make your guy listen is by listening to him. You'll make him feel important and he'll be inclined to return the favor by listening to what you say. You will be amazed at how sensitive guys are and listening is as important to them as it is to you.

2. STAY ON TOPIC

I'm incredibly random and skip from topic to topic. If you want your guy to listen to something, stay on the topic. The more you change subjects while making a point, the more you get the blank stare. Now, make a point of staying on the topic and being as concise as possible. The result is a guy who can actually repeat what you say, even hours or days later.

3. CHOOSE THE RIGHT TIME

I'm not saying you can only talk to your guy at certain times, but there is a right and wrong time for conversation. Think about how difficult it is for you to pay attention after a hard day at work. If you hit your guy with conversation the moment he walks through the door, he may not hear much of what you say. Wait until he's had a moment to relax and change focus from work to home. Also, it's not even worth it to try to interrupt him when he's engrossed in a TV show, movie or a favorite activity. Choosing the right time means he'll be tuned in to you.

4. DON'T NAG

Start nagging a guy and he'll either go on the defensive or tune out completely. I don't like it when people do it to me, so I know my guy's not going to either. Be respectful, yet authoritative when asking your guy to do something or reminding him about a chore. If he puts you off, explain why it's important. Treating him like an adult instead of a child magically makes his ears start working again.

5. SHARE HIS INTERESTS

I believe in the opposites attract theory. The problem is your interests may not always mesh with his. Even if it's something you're not interested in, listen to him prattle on about the latest sports game or action flick. When it's your turn to talk about fashion trends, he'll be more likely to listen. Sharing interests ensures the conversation is always a two-way street. If he doesn't want to listen, remind him about all the things you listened to and he'll quickly change his tune.

6. GIVE HIM A SIGNAL

Sometimes a guy is so busy with something else that he truly doesn't realize you're talking. I didn't really understand this until I thought about how I tune out distractions when I'm watching an interesting movie or reading a good book. When you need to tell him something important and you want to make sure he listens, give him a signal. Tap him on the arm, lay a hand on his leg or look him straight in the eyes. He knows you want his attention he's happy to comply.

7. TALK ABOUT IT

Get rid of all the distractions and ask your guy why he doesn't listen to you. Some guys don't realize how often they tune their partner out. The problem could be something stressful in his life instead of just him. Being open with your guy helps you both understand each other better so both parties become better listeners.

8. SPEAK UP

If you're a soft spoken kind of girl, speak up a little. Make sure your guy can actually hear you. After all, if he doesn't know you're talking, he isn't going to listen.

9. KEEP IT SIMPLE

While us girls may love hearing a lot of unrelated details, guys aren't that interested. If you don't want him to tune out, keep what you tell him simple and concise. For example, if you want him to do several things, give him a quick, simple list instead of explaining each task in detail and why he needs to do it. Odds are, he'll only hear the first task. Guys hear far more if it's basic without a lot of flair.

Most guys are good listeners if you talk to them correctly. Sometimes you have to remind yourself that he's not one of the girls. While he'll occasionally tune out, it doesn't take much to get his attention again.

What methods do you use to make sure your guy always pay attention when you speak?

Woman Gives Birth To Twins With Different Fathers

I am still going huh????. According to reports from TODAY NEWS, a 20 year old woman from Texas,  Mia Washington has given birth to twins,  each having a different father. Read the full report below.......

Last year, Texas woman, Mia Washington didn’t plan on giving birth to twins but when she did she ended up getting even more than she bargained for — her fraternal sons have two different fathers. You are probably wondering, how did this happen so allow us to explain.

As you know, every month a woman releases one egg from her ovaries that can be fertilized by sperm. As for Washington, she released a pair of eggs. According to Dr. Hilda Hutcherson of Columbia University who reported to TODAY News:

“sperm can remain alive and well and viable for up to five days in the reproductive tract. Thus, a woman can have sex with different men within those five days and the sperm just kind of hang out there waiting for the egg to be released.”

Washington, who is 20 years old,  had sex with another man a few days after she slept with her 44-year-old  boyfriend, James Harrison — hence her double conception. James investigated the issue when he noticed the twins, Justin and Jordan, who were born seven minutes, apart looked very different, even for fraternal twins. He requested a paternity test and discovered Justin was not his child. When Harrison found out the news he was devastated:

“I was hurt, torn apart — didn’t know what the next move was gonna be.”

Although he was hurt, Harrison continued to raise Justin as his own. And despite the odds of a situation like this, this is not the first time twins have been born to different fathers. Studies have revealed 1 to 2 percent of fraternal twin births have different fathers, but this often goes unnoticed. The terminology used to identify this type of birth is called: “heteropaternal superfecundation”. It was reported on first by John Archer who was the first doctor to receive a medical degree in the United States in 1810. Archer dubbed the term when a white woman had sex with two men, black and white  and later gave birth to twin boys. One son was white whereas the other was of mixed race.

As for Mia Washington and James Harrison, they plan on marrying each other in the future. And in the mean time, they will prepare for their new family addition- a baby girl. She will add some sweet and spice to their clan of three boys .

Washington has a 4-year old from a previous relationship....meaning she bore him at 16...how do the yorubas say it...Ooo gaaaaa o!
